Pet Portrait Commission - Lily

My aunt Ellie, who you might remember from such posts as "Westerly Bottles: A Saga" and "Pet Portrait - Wellington," commissioned me to paint a portrait of her daughter-in-law's dog, Lily. The challenge with painting Lily was that I had to use several photos to get the painting to look just right. The main photo I used was Lily at the beach, but she was all wet in the photo. So I referenced two other photos as a source for what her fur looked like dry, and also to get just the right expression in her eyes. It was quite soothing working on that lovely beach backdrop, too! It helped me escape the feeling of quarantine for a little bit - at least, in my mind, haha. Below are progress photos.
