Apple and Chianti Still Life - Oil Painting Process

I've started taking oil painting lessons to brush up on some long rusty skills. Until the last couple of months, I hadn't really picked up oil paints since my freshman year of college, nearly 25 years ago! I've really missed working in this medium, and it has been so fun picking it back up again.

Here are some process photos of my latest lesson - this one took several sessions but I love how it turned out!

Sketching it out.

Blocking in basic shapes, light and shadows.

Boosting the light and shadows, adding more color.

Bringing in the flowers, adding more true color and details.

Final touches - detail of the fabric in the background, last bits of highlight and shadows.

Finished product!
